Dear Friends,

We hope you have been inspired by reading our 2009 Annual Report, which outlines Oral Health America’s programs and how they are impacting the lives of vulnerable children and adults across the country. You have helped OHA accomplish this work through your generosity and in 2010 our goals are more ambitious: to expand every program by raising at least $2 million!

To achieve our shared vision in which oral health is recognized as a critical part of overall health, I am asking you to take a leadership role in supporting OHA's Healthy Mouths for Health Lives Annual Fund campaign. Your gift will change the lives of our most vulnerable citizens by helping us to increase access to oral healthcare, foster education and advocate for policies that create oral health equity.

The expansion of our five core programs will accomplish the following, with your help:

  • Smiles Across America® will reach over 250,000 children in one out of every four US states plus support over 90 community dental programs with about 300,000 units of donated dental product.
  • Medical Dental Dialogues will promote collaboration between medical and dental professionals in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Medical Dental Dialogues reached over 130,000 practitioners in 2009 and will grow exponentially in 2010.
  • Wisdom Tooth Project grew from OHA’s 2009 Symposium, Collaborative Healthcare for Older Adults and will address the growing oral healthcare crisis among older adults via an online community, regional symposia and communications initiatives using multiple media.
  • NSTEP® will reach out to youth through Little League Baseball to educate about the dangers of smokeless and spit tobacco impacting over 20 million children and families.
  • The Campaign for Oral Health Parity will engage the public to speak up for oral health and rightly prioritize conditions of the mouth alongside other serious medical conditions.

Please join our efforts to improve the oral health of the American public.

Gifts to our year-end campaign provide essential support for OHA’s outreach, policy, and public education programs!

You can be assured that your support will help us educate and empower communities as we work to eliminate oral disease and bring healthy mouths to life.

With gratitude,

Beth Truett
President and CEO
