Smiles Across America® 2015-2016 Capacity Building Project Grants

Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America® (SAA)program supports oral disease prevention in school-based or school-linked settings for at risk children who are uninsured and underserved due to issues of poverty, lack of resources, transportation barriers, low literacy, and language diversity. SAAnot only improves the oral health of elementary school students, but also demonstrates to the community that oral health is integral to overall health.

The goal of the 2015-2016 SAA grants is to support local, community based oral health preventive services programs in expanding their programmatic capacity in a school-based or school-linked setting by increasing the number of children served.

Grant Award Amounts:

For this grant cycle, grant awards will range from $5,000 to $20,000.

Oral Health America recognized that there are a variety of ways to support building capacity in a community. We invite partners to think strategically about their particular needs related to the delivery preventive services.

OHA also recognized that there are numerous avenues to accomplish this goal. Therefore grants can cover direct and indirect costs and personnel. Award amount will be determined upon proposal’s creative, executable, high-quality strategies that increase the number of children served during the 2015-2016 school year, as well as the ability of the SAA grant to leverage additional funds through matching grant opportunities.
