PROMOTING HEALTH ONE MOUTH AT A TIME

On Monday, November 29, Oral Health America will announce a new ten-year project at the 2010 Greater New York Dental Meeting.  The Seal Two Million Campaign exemplifies OHA’s commitment to preventing oral disease, and promoting healthy mouths and bodies.
How do we do this? OHA is both a funder, providing grants to programs that serve at-risk children and families, and a program innovator, designing and implementing programs that connect communities with resources to address the oral health needs of all Americans, especially those most vulnerable.
With your help we will achieve this ambitious new goal: to seal two million teeth for 500,000 children by 2020.  We know it’s possible because OHA exceeded our previous goal: seal 1 million teeth by 2010. In this holiday season we are reminded that for those to whom much has been given, much is asked in return. Will you pledge your support to change a life through a smile?
Thank you for your Seal Two Million donation!

PULPDENT SUPPORTS OHA BECAUSE ‘IT’S THE RIGHT THING TO DO’

Pulpdent Corporation generously supports OHA’s Smiles Across America® (SAA) program by donating sealant materials for our product donation partners. Vice President Fred Berk recently explained why.

Why does Pulpdent continue to support OHA’s Smiles Across America®, and why is it so important that children receive dental sealants?

Children show off their embracelets after receiving Embrace WetBond Pit & Fissure Sealants in a school-based sealant program. The embracelets were a gift from Pulpdent to encourage good oral healthcare.

Pulpdent has always had a special interest in public health and the oral health of children in particular. We support OHA, Special Olympics and other organizations that bring much needed care to underprivileged and underserved children because these children deserve a chance for a better and healthier life.

SMILING ACROSS NORTHERN MINNESOTA

Smiles Across Minnesota (SAM) is expanding its statewide preventive dental program to several Northern Minnesota school districts: International Falls, South Koochiching-Rainy River and Littlefork-Big Falls.

“As Minnesota’s largest dental benefits administrator, we are aware of the challenges of dentally uninsured and under insured children. Therefore, we are grateful to partner with Oral Health America and Children’s Dental Services and continue a tradition of improving oral health for all Minnesotans,” said Ann Johnson, co-chair of SAM, and director of community affairs for Delta Dental of Minnesota, which provided a $20,000 start-up grant for the preventive care in International Falls.

OHA is providing $46,000 in Smiles Across America® grant funding for school-based and school-linked dental services in Minnesota through Children’s Dental Services in the 2010-2011 school year.

CHILDREN SEE IT TOO: PREVENTIVE DENTAL CARE IS NECESSARY FOR OPTIMAL SELF ESTEEM AND SCHOOL PERFORMANCE

Eleven-year-old Barbara Judge, with the help of her mother, Carol Lynn, recently made a donation to Smiles Across America® (SAA) after reading about the program in a magazine at her dentist’s office. Barbara has already experienced multiple rounds of braces and understood how the program could help other children who were not able to get the care they needed. She wanted to be part of the solution.
